Our 2013 Milestones--YOU Make Them Possible!

Without YOU, The Neuropathy Association could not have made 2013 a milestone-filled year for all of us in the neuropathy community. And, with 2014 just around the corner, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on all that we have accomplished together this year:

The following are just some of our 2013 milestones:  

“What we do today defines our future…
        …a future WITHOUT NEUROPATHY!”

Our record of progress, going back to 1995…

 - We kicked off an expanded, more visible, national Neuropathy Awareness Week (May 13-17, 2013) campaign for the ninth year in a row;

- We organized multiple national grassroots advocacy campaigns to protect your access to care amid Federal and State budget cuts;

- We rang the NYSE Closing Bell on August 12th, a momentous awareness-building opportunity viewed by 100 million people around the world;

- We provided patient testimony before government agency panels and committees representing initiatives of the Department of Health and Human Services, NIH, FDA, and Institute of Medicine (IOM)

- We collaborated with advocacy organizations such as Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation, Dysautonomia International, Hereditary Neuropathy Foundation, Fabry Support and Information Group, among others to share and cross-promote ideas, advocacy action issues, and educational resources;

- We, with the help of our Facebook and Twitter followers, created a “Neuropathy World Cloud” -- a powerful visual representation of what it means to have neuropathy -- that has to date been viewed by 200,000+ people;

- We had community members share their inspirational neuropathy experiences and awareness-building efforts, including climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, getting the SunTrust building (a landmark in Tampa, FL) lit up purple and gold, training and registering for the 2014 Pittsburgh Half Marathon, among others;

- We crossed a Facebook milestone: “10,000 followers!” who have an extended reach of 27 million people;

- We partnered with Bravelets to raise awareness and funds for neuropathy by offering purple neuropathy-themed jewelry items; … and much more!

YOU make our work possible. Thank you for your commitment to fighting back against neuropathy. Especially during these on-going economic challenges, we appreciate you stepping up to help us continue our work to bring more resources, treatment options, and cures to millions in need.
