I Have Come to Accept My Neuropathy

My first experience with peripheral neuropathy was in early 2001, when I was papering my bedroom. At that time, I experienced great discomfort when I was on my knees and my toes were touching with applied pressure on the floor. It felt like a thousand needles were being pushed into them.

Since that time, my neuropathy has gotten progressively worse. Now the pain is quite severe and includes my toes and the balls of my feet. Sometimes the pain spreads to the whole foot and into my ankles.

I was told that I had a vitamin B12 deficiency and now take a shot of the liquid form of B12 every month along with pregabalin, L-methylfolate, and tramadol. I do not have diabetes, but prior to the start of the pain, I had a bout with shingles.

The B12 does seem to have an effect on the pain for several days. I have come to accept the pain and put up with it, regardless of how severe. I do think I know how someone feels with electric shock.
